Monel 400/UNS N04400
Monel 400 (Alloy 400 / UNS N04400 / W.Nr. 2.4360) is the classic nickel-copper alloy, it has been the benchmark material for seawater and hydrofluoric acid (HF) service since 1905. Unlike Cr-bearing nickel alloys that rely on a chromium oxide film, Monel 400’s Ni-Cu chemistry delivers outstanding resistance to reducing media, marine environments, and virtually all concentrations of HF — one of the very few alloys that can make that claim.
With over a century of field-proven performance, Monel 400 is specified in marine propeller shafts, seawater valves & pumps, HF alkylation units, chemical processing, oil & gas downhole components, and power plant feedwater systems. Available in plate, sheet, strip, bar, rod, billet, wire, seamless/welded pipe & tube, fittings, flanges, and forgings.
